The decision to intentionally invest in your mental health & wellness is one you won’t regret. I’ve yet to have a client tell me otherwise. Yes, for some it seems scary … my advice, do it anyway!

TAMEIKA

I offer a free 15 minute consultation to all potential clients before scheduling your first session to ensure we’re a good fit. Many of my clients who are new to therapy have said that after the consultation their feelings of nervousness sand anxiousness were relieved and replaced with excitement and optimism. If not by the end of the consultation, definitely by the end of the first session.

The therapeutic relationship between therapist and client alone has proven to be a catalyst for growth and change. Our rapport is very important to me. We will work collaboratively to identify your goals for therapy and actively work towards them. Therapy “works” if you do the work. That means being open and honest with me and yourself, which is not always easy.

However, remember, you aren’t doing this alone. We can ease into the difficult stuff. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques (CBT), Solution focused Brief therapy, coaching, accountability, empowering, & motivating.

“HOW YOU LOVE YOURSELF IS HOW YOU TEACH OTHERS TO LOVE YOU” -Rupi Kaur

In my experience in working with my fellow ladies in their 20’s and 30’s, it’s not that total self-esteem and self-worth are gone, but lots of contributing factors may have greatly tarnished it at some point in your lives. You try to set boundaries, but because your parents view this as disrespect, it’s very hard. You feel good about where you are in life, until you start scrolling though the gram. You know better than to compare yourself to others, but sometimes you can’t help it. You try to keep your thoughts in check, but sometimes they get the best of you, and before you know it you are going down a rabbit hole of unhealthy, negative thoughts.

You’ve often compromised what you know you truly want in a partner and relationship simply for the sake of being in a relationship, yet you know you deserve better. You fear setting boundaries and asserting yourself in personal and professional relationships, and it’s taking a toll on you. Maintaining genuine friendships as an adult is hard, much harder than you expected, and it’s often disappointing when the effort isn’t reciprocated. Didn’t expect to be here - but hellooo dating apps!! Unresolved trauma is severely impacting your present life, preventing you from having a healthy relationship with yourself and others.

Life in your 20’s/30’s - gotta stay fit, stay on top of your mental health, have healthy friendships, healthy romantic relationships, get married and have kids while in your younger 30’s (if that’s your thing), excel professionally, make 6 figures, own something, become an entrepreneur, create multiple streams of income, be THAT GIRL, and live a Soft luxurious life, all while handling what life will throw at you with grace. That’s A LOT of pressure, and it’s super stressful! I can’t promise that life will stop “lifing” but I can definitely help you through it all in a healthy manner.

My Education & Training

I’ve worked with toddlers up to geriatric clients/patients in many treatment settings - Private Practice, Fulton County Head Start, Managed Care, CORE & IFI Services, Inpatient Hospitalization, Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient Program, and Probation Aftercare Services.

I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from North Carolina A & T State University in 2008 and my Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University - Atlanta, in 2010. As a graduate student, I completed my practicum at a private practice doing individual therapy with high school students, as well as case management for a private foster care agency. After receiving my master’s degree and entering the mental health field, I worked in various treatment settings, with a wide range of clientele and patients doing individual and group therapy, facilitating psychoeducational groups, conducting clinical assessments, and formulating treatment plans. Once fully licensed, I transitioned into the managed care sector, as a utilization manager, providing indirect clinical care to patients receiving inpatient psychiatric treatment.

I started my private practice in 2016 and have had the opportunity to work with 100’s of women to improve their relationship with themselves and others, through individual therapy. Over the years, I’ve also had the privilege of doing speaking engagements on mental health, self-esteem, and self-care at events and trainings. I’m so excited to have expanded my private practice into a group practice in 2023.
